Production and Conservation at Ladder Ranch

For over 130 years, the land at Ladder Ranch has been nurtured and cared for by four generations of the O'Toole family to sustain multi-species grazers and their stewards.

The impressive area reaches into both Wyoming and Colorado, spans multiple watersheds, and supports habitat for a number of species. Working with Trout Unlimited and Farm Bill funding, the O’Tooles modernized their irrigation strategy to conserve water and augment late-season stream flows. The story of Ladder Ranch illustrates the collective benefit of collaboration between agricultural producers and conservationists.
