We’re working to enable and accelerate the modernization of irrigation infrastructure with multiple irrigation districts in Oregon. Once modernized, the result of this work will be trillions of gallons of water conserved annually, thousands of miles of stream improved for fish, MWh of energy created as well as conserved, and millions of dollars in economic development.
With our partner’s investments in the Irrigation Modernization Program, we’re transforming the operational paradigm for irrigation districts in Oregon and across the West, moving new projects into construction and securing energy, agricultural, economic, and environmental benefits at a pace never before seen in this sector.
* Energy Conservation numbers represent an estimate of the potential energy savings that could result from the identified projects across participating districts. Depending on individual district circumstances, this estimate may depend upon the completion of necessary on-farm upgrades in addition to the districts’ modernization projects.
** Completed projects and projects underway in Crook, Deschutes, Hood River, and Jackson Counties. Project Description: Piping Projects in Central Oregon Irrigation District, East Fork Irrigation District, Ochoco Irrigation District, Swalley Irrigation District, Medford Irrigation District, Rogue River Irrigation District, Lone Pine Irrigation District and Tumalo Irrigation District.
Irrigation Modernization enables a foundation for implementing forward-thinking solutions that can advance new technology, improve community resiliency and mitigate the increased risks from natural disasters.
